This shouldn't surprise anyone, but H-E-B enjoys really high rankings in various studies and polls.
For instance, Disney-owned Houston ABC affiliate KTRK reported back in January 2022 that H-E-B ranked second among grocery stores throughout the United States according to the annual dunnhumby Retailer Preference Index (RPI). That's not bad at all. In fact, H-E-B ranked second in 2021 as well according to Supermarket News; both times it only trailed Amazon Fresh. In a way, that's not really a fair comparison as Amazon has such high national brand recognition and provides many perks and benefits to consumers through its various non-grocery related services. What is really impressive is that H-E-B edged out so many beloved and storied grocery stores like Trader Joe's and Publix -- along with behemoths like Target, Walmart/Sam's Club, Costco, and the portfolio of stores owned by companies like Albertsons and Kroger.
H-E-B stood out because of its prices, quality, and operations and improvements in speed, digital, and (making a great thing even better) quality. KTRK also points out that consumers love H-E-B favorites from its private label store brands. Y'all can buy some of these items here on Texas Snax.
However, such praise doesn't surprise us nor should it surprise y'all. As we've reported earlier, according to Glassdoor, H-E-B was a top ranked company for employee satisfaction in 2021 -- during a pandemic. This ranking included all sorts of different types of companies like: airlines, tech firms, consulting firms, restaurants, and apparel companies. By taking care of its employees, H-E-B helps ensure that they take care of its customers. Thus, such a pairing of high rankings isn't that crazy to understand or defend.
Either way, H-E-B is tops in our books. Let us know why y'all love it by leaving a comment on this blog post or on the Texas Snax Facebook page.
