Honest notes from home bakers. You really do need a tube pan; a regular cake pan won't give it the height. Most angel food recipes have you cool the cake upside down so it doesn't sink, so follow the box closely on that step. And it's a plain canvas on purpose. On its own it's sweet and simple. With macerated strawberries and a cloud of whipped cream, it's the best thing on the table. The sherbet cake recipe on the back is a fun summer project if you've got kids who like layering.
